About me
Welcome
You are curious about cruising, but how much does it actually cost, and what are the ships really like? When you start looking into a cruise, that is usually where you get stuck. Brochures are attractive, but fare tables take time to read, and the photos are always beautiful, so it is hard to imagine the real atmosphere.
I started this blog as a place to sort out, one piece at a time, the things I wish I had known before boarding.
What this blog is
The focus is ship guides. I began with Asuka II, the flagship of Japanese cruising, and have since added Asuka III and Queen Mary 2. I put together key facts, cabin classes, sample fares, and onboard facilities and meals by comparing official materials and press reports. Next I plan to write about routes and ports of call, and about things that often puzzle first-timers, such as dress codes and what to pack.
I try to cite sources for the numbers. But cruise fares change a lot with the dates, the season and the cabin location. The figures in the articles are only a guide, so please check the operator's official website for the latest information before you book.
About the photos
I only use photos whose licenses allow reuse, such as Creative Commons. The photographer's name and the license are written under each photo. These articles would not exist without the people who share their good photos.
If you spot a mistake
I research carefully, but I may have missed something, and some information will change over time. If you notice something wrong, I would be grateful if you could tell me through the contact page. I will check and correct the article.
Haruka
I'm Haruka. I love sea travel and keep reading about luxury cruises around the world. I plan to let this blog grow slowly. Your comments and thoughts are welcome through the contact page.
